CHATTANOOGA, TN, October 27, 2026 – Acclaimed bluegrass singer and guitarist Greg Blake was named the 2026 Male Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Association during the 37th Annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards, held October 22 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The honor marks Blake’s third win in this prestigious category, following victories in 2023 and 2025, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most respected and celebrated voices in bluegrass music.
Known for his rich, soulful baritone, heartfelt delivery, and distinctive vocal style, Blake has earned widespread admiration from fellow musicians, industry professionals, and fans alike. His ability to bring power and sincerity to every performance makes him a standout vocalist in a genre renowned for its exceptional singers.
“I can’t even begin to describe how honored I am to be selected for this award by my peers in the industry,” said Blake. “When I began pursuing music professionally about 10 to 12 years ago, I never imagined receiving such a prestigious award once, much less three times. I’m incredibly grateful to the bluegrass community for its continued support, to my past and present bandmates, Turnberry Records, Hope River Entertainment, and especially my wife, Joy Sue, for always believing in me. Above all, I thank God for the gift of music and the opportunity to share it with others.”
Greg Blake is the lead vocalist and guitarist for the internationally acclaimed bluegrass band Special Consensus, performing alongside founding member and banjo player Greg Cahill, mandolinist Brian McCarty, and bassist Nico Humby. Together, the four musicians continue to bring the band's distinctive sound to audiences across the United States and around the world.
In addition to his work with Special Consensus, Blake enjoys a successful solo career as a recording artist with Turnberry Records. His recent music, including the single "Victim of the Game," showcases the expressive vocals and compelling storytelling that have earned him widespread recognition throughout the bluegrass community.
“We’re thrilled to congratulate Greg Blake on being named the 2026 IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year. Greg is an incredible talent, and we’re proud to have him as part of the Turnberry Records family. We look forward to sharing more of his music for many years to come,” said Keith Barnacastle.
Greg Blake’s remarkable vocal talent has also earned praise from some of bluegrass music's most respected artists. Grammy-winning musician Tim O'Brien, who collaborated with Blake on the recording of "Bluefield Mountain Wind," offered this endorsement: “Greg is a true Bluegrass great, and his voice is made for this song.”
Originally from West Virginia and now living in Lexington, North Carolina, Blake draws on his musical influences and lifelong dedication to bluegrass, reflected in his distinctive vocals and heartfelt performances. With a thriving solo career and continued work with Special Consensus, he remains a respected, influential figure in the genre, connecting with audiences across generations.
